GENERAL DESCRIPTION: - Provide waterfront support and detailed design support for small boats. - Prepare materials for, and conduct periodic design reviews and execute engineering design, analysis and development activities consistent with customer quality, cost and schedule requirements. - Perform as a designer or drafting advisor for major phases of marine mechanical design. - Provide drafting support for all marine disciplines. - Conduct engineering design studies, analyze requirements, select standard engineering or construction techniques, procedures and specifications and designate material requirements. - Develop basic technical, design or planning data. - Make preliminary layouts and sketches and present technical, design and planning proposals including test requirements and specification definitions. Gryphon Technologies is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to assist the NAVSEA Ship Design Manager (SDM) in managing the planning and execution of CVN 68 Class aircraft carrier refueling complex overhauls (RCOH).  The Mission Systems Engineer supports the Warfare Systems Integrated Process Team (IPT) and participates in other IPTs and Working Groups as required to support the development, integration and planning of Mission system alterations and repairs through the planning and execution phases of the RCOH.    The Mission Systems Engineer normally works at home making routine trips to Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) and Newport News Shipyard (NNS).   Specific duties include the following: - Liaison with various technical agencies including Supervisor of Shipbuilding Newport News (SUPSHIPNN), NNSY, NNS, Participating Acquisition Resource Managers (PARMs) and Alteration Installation Teams (AIT) for planning and execution of the mission systems work package. - Support the Mission Systems IPT responsible for identifying and integrating all Mission Systems Availability Work Package (AWP) items to include modernization and repair items. Facilitate the Mission Systems IPT and oversee the preparation and distribution of action items and meeting minutes as required. - Develop the NAVSEA response to Liaison Action Requests (LAR’s), Design Liaison Action Requests (DLARs), and SDM action items as tasked and review and provide comments to Fleet Modernization Requests (FMRs), Ship Change Documents (SCDs), Cost Data Sheets (CDS) and Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs). - Provide integration support for Mission systems during ship availabilities. Support shall include the accomplishment of configuration and interface surveys, operational readiness and material condition assessment, on-site surveys, and technical assists to the Customer Contract Teams (CCT’s) and the shipbuilder as necessary. - Provide technical and engineering support to ensure the integration of Warfare systems by overseeing various contractors with the responsibility of developing Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs). - Participate in systems/subsystems related reviews, technical meetings, conferences, and other meetings at vendor facilities, shipbuilder facilities and Navy integrations to provide technical inputs and recommendations regarding design/integration deficiencies. Systems involved shall include all Mission systems.   Travel maybe required as directed by the SDM; but less than 5 days a quarter is expected.   The Mission Systems Engineer is required to make periodic visits to ships in the shipyard as part of the overall effort to identify problems and insure the most effective work package is developed.   The position involves the occasional use of unclassified Navy Nuclear Propulsion Information. Familiarity with and adherence to the rules for handling this material is required.

The candidate will provide NSWCPD Modernization Programs Support for Technical Refresh, Restoration and Reactivation and Ship Availability Maintenance Periods. During DDG/ CG/ LSD/LHD Midlife availabilities, the Ship Manager’s Representative (SMR) will lead the waterfront team consisting of the SPIR Writer, Test Coordinator, and On Site Installation Coordinator (OSIC) or Navy Technical Representative (NTR). The SMR will provide a weekly core alt report as well as support a weekly status meeting. The SMR will maintain the milestones, interface with the Hull Manager, installation activity, Tech Code, and other shipboard personnel in order to track the milestones and report when milestones are in jeopardy. The SMR will provide real time information to determine when the Tech Codes will travel to the waterfront for testing. The SMR will deliver signed off test procedures to the Regional Maintenance Center or NSSA and provide a copy to the TM for archive.   Following a Midlife availability the SMR will track issues reported by the modernized ship. The SMR's will do this for all modernized hulls including new construction (DDG 111 AF) once they become in-service ships.  The SMRs will provide a list of issues to the TM for consolidation and will support a weekly meeting to review the issues.

Provide an Auxiliaries and Crew / Habitability Systems FAP support services to the SUPSHIP Newport News RCOH Planning Team. The Auxiliaries and Crew / Habitability Systems FAP position will coordinate work performed in support of this task with the SUPSHIP Newport News RCOH Maintenance Planning Manager (MPM). The FAP will make recommendations to the MPM for developing the Auxiliaries and Crew / Habitability Systems work package. This will include integration of all modernization, repairs and services work. The work package developed by the FAP will be integrated into the overall Availability Work Package (AWP) for the RCOH, via the MPM. The FAP will maintain close contact with numerous programmatic and technical organizations during work package development. These include, but are not limited to, SUPSHIP Newport News, MPM, Project Team members and support organizations, CET, Program Office PMS312, System Commands, ISEAs, PARMs, and ship's force. The FAP will participate in the Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) teaming structure for the RCOH, and be co-located with the project planning team at SUPSHIP Newport News. The FAP will interface with the project team executing the ongoing RCOH to understand waterfront decisions. This will include review of the Inspection Report/Field Modification Request (IR/FMR) database, and participation in and contribution to the appropriate Knowledge Sharing Network (KSN), which will allow the FAP to learn how to best plan their work package for execution.

Gryphon Technologies, a leading provider of engineering services to the US Navy, is seeking an Information Management Applications Engineer for a government location in Newport News, VA.  This position will be responsible for providing information management services for SUPSHIP Newport News Carrier Project Offices in accordance with tasking provided by PEO Carriers PMS 312 in support of Aircraft Carrier Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) and new construction projects. Work will also consist of information management services, but will not be limited to the development of electronic data exchange between SUPSHIP Newport News, Naval Sea Systems Command, Suffolk Warehouse, ships force and other government agencies.  The specific task description is as follows: - The contractor shall provide engineering services for the development and maintenance of a carrier electronic data interchange (EDI) environment to include the exchange of electronic information between the Carrier Project Offices, ships force, Newport News Shipbuilding, PEO Carriers PMS 312 and other government agencies.   - Define and evaluate current means of data exchange, both electronic and hard copy. - Prepare a comprehensive technical and administrative approach to integrate the existing multimedia products into the boundaries set forth by the EDI environment as established by this task order.  - Provide guidance and support for electronic CDRL management. - Develop electronic based workflow processes. - Perform overall hardware and software coordination for the EDI environment. - Prepare and review presentations, technical documentation, engineering drawings, and specifications as required. - Attend EDI program meetings. - Provide technical support for EDI issues.
