    Responsibilities

    • Support propulsion plant system, component, power generation, distribution, and/or control system risk assessments, investigations, analysis, and design modifications of subsystems and new equipment.
    • Provide requirements analysis, software/engineering evaluations, and recommendations relative to submarine circuits and control systems; interpret specifications and application requirements and reconcile them with deliverables.
    • Design and evaluate test plans.
    • Help identify and track defects or other design issues that result from testing.
    • Evaluate change submissions, and make impact assessments relative to engineering cost trade-offs, concessions, and other issues that may affect system operation.
    • Lead or assist in the evaluation of embedded hardware/software systems.
    • Provide technical responses in draft memo, transmittal, email, or letter format.
    • Represent organization’s interests at command and other government meetings (live meetings, telecons, and VTCs) as required.  Record notes, agreements, and actions.  Provide trip reports as needed.

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of five years related experience is required
    • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering, with at least five years' experience directly related to system engineering and/or control systems engineering
    • Ideal candidate will have Naval Electric Power Generation/Distribution control system experience, specifically closed loop control of variable speed motor drives.
    • Must have journeyman level knowledge of control theory and circuit analysis applications.
    • Must have design familiarity with power electronics and  electric circuit design.
    • Proficient in Microsoft software applications.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
    • Must be able to work as a key member of a diverse team including Power Design Engineers, Nuclear Engineers, Ship Design Engineers, System Engineers, Software Engineers, Computer Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers, as well as manufacturers of components and other DoD stakeholders.

    One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Secret Security Clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship required.
