    Responsibilities

    General Duties:

    • Assist team in designing new systems or modified existing designs in support of various vessel classes
    • Incorporate design changes from engineering packages or Liaison Action Record (LAR) into drawing and BoatAlt packages
    • Correct marked-up drawings and/or sketches per fleet requirements
    • Develop and prepare schematics and compile and compute engineering data and drawings under direction of engineering staff
    • Develop 3D models and extraction for 2D drawing development

    Qualifications

    Minimum Skill Requirements:

    • Associates degree in drafting, completion of apprenticeship program or equivalent experience in specialized training
    • 4-7 years of design of electrical design experience in at least one of the following three concentrations: AC/DC power circuitry OR DC electrical control circuitry OR electronic/electromechanical interfaces
    • Proficient (3-5 years) with 2D AutoCAD, 3D Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks or a similar CAD/Modeling software
    • Ability to communicate with other design disciplines as part of an Integrated Project Team (IPT).
    • Familiarity with industry and design principals related to marine systems specifically US Naval and US Coast Guard vessels
    • Knowledgeable of shipboard/boat systems in general

    Preferred Skill Requirements:

    • Experience with 12V/24V battery supplied power systems
    • Experience with FLIR, Radar, GPS and Vessel identification Systems
    • Experience with both Outboard and Diesel Engine Control Systems

    Travel :

    • Minimal, office environment with local base visits only

    Physical Requirements/ Physical Demands:

    • Carrying and Lifting. Ability to transport and lift up to 30lbs
    • Boat check craft both on trailers or in the water
    • Employee is required to access remote areas of multi-level vessels

    A minimum of 4 years related experience is required.

     

    One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
