    Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:




    • Work independently and exercise independent judgment to provide waterfront field engineering/troubleshooting support, and detailed design and engineering support.

    • Design and engineer Mechanical components and systems for installation on boats.

    • Understand engineering/design specifications and engineering principles and methods, to perform engineering analysis and resolve engineering problems of moderate complexity.

    • Provide engineering calculation, technical solutions and professional guidance for mechanical systems.

    • Responsible for research, development, regulation adherence, material conditions surveying and industrial oversight.

    • Maintain superior customer relations and communications.

    • Strive to maintain quality products, within schedule and cost.






    GENERAL DUTIES:




    • Under senior guidance, collect and analyze technical data for design, calculations or feasibility studies.

    • Provide waterfront support, field engineering and detailed design and engineering support.

    • Collect and analyze technical data for design or feasibility studies.

    • Evaluate performance and life-cycle operational requirements and develops engineering design to meet customer requirements.

    • Prepare layouts and specifications; review design proposals and drawings; and assure that specifications meet performance requirements.

    • Provide mechanical engineering expertise to the development of technical specifications, requisition and bid documents, inspection and testing requirements, etc.

    • Apply specialized engineering knowledge and training to analyze and resolve design and production issues.

    • Conduct analysis on various piping and ducting systems to determine pressure drop, mass flow, temperature variation and system sizing; and the components which make up the overall system.

    • Design and layout HVAC systems.

    • Determine heat flow conditions/boundaries and layout out the system to meet all design requirements stated.

    • Have a general understanding of drawing development and review.

    • Effectively use Computer Aided Design principles, both 2-D and 3-D and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

    • Be team centric, yet the ability to work individually with little oversight and guidance.

    • Demonstrate the ability to work in an open communicative environment, and be able to adapt to changing design requirements rapidly.

    • Attend meetings and provide professional recommendations as requested.

    • Professionally interface with customers and vendors.

    • Provide project management, project supervision, planning, organizing and supervising designers / drafters and technicians.

    • Prepare engineering sketches to help designers and drafters to complete engineering drawings.

    • Check and review documents produced by other members of the department for completion and accuracy.

    • Develop and apply advance methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems.

    • Plan, conduct, and evaluate projects or moderate phases of significant projects, coordinating efforts with engineers and staff.

    • Develop and perform formal technical reports summarizing analyses, calculations and engineering studies.

    • Available for CONUS and OCONUS travel.





    Qualifications

    MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:



    Junior Level:




    • Accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree from a four-year university, and accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

    • At a minimum, the individual must be familiar with Maritime terminology and basic design principles,

    • Working knowledge of engineering analysis and design applications programs is required.

    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Project.

    • Be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

    • A basic understanding and use of AutoCAD is needed, as well as knowing basic drafting and drawing development standards.



    Mid. Level:




    • Accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree from a four-year university, and accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

    • Must have at least 5-years of related experience in marine design, preferably with an emphasis on small craft. In addition, the individual must be able to perform Fluid Mechanic, Thermodynamics, and Basic Static and Dynamic stress analyses and apply these findings to various marine design scenarios.

    • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

    • Working knowledge of engineering analysis and design applications programs is required.

    • Working knowledge of military and commercial standards or previous design experience in a defense or military support environment.

    • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.

    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Project.

    • Be able to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

    • Work independently (with minimal supervision) or on project teams.

    • Ability and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

    SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:




    • This position requires US citizenship and will be subject to a security investigation, must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain, and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.



     






    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:




    • Boat check craft on trailers or in the water.




    • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.

    • Employee is required to access remote areas of multi-level vessels.

    • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles.
