    Responsibilities

    Support the Corrosion Engineering Division of Surface Maintenance Engineering Planning Program (SURFMEPP).  Develop and maintain availability maintenance planning for corrosion in the U. S. Navy surface ship maintenance and modernization end to end process and the JFMM depot level planning requirements. Maintain the Navy Data Environment database (NDE), the VSB and M&SWP automated information systems as required.

    Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk assessment, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for corrosion. Ensures the logical and systematic incorporation of maintenance requirements into total availability solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Researches, designs, develops, and tests methods to improve the maintenance and modernization process for surface ships. Analyzes complex ship systems product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced or maintained by existing processes or infrastructure. Evaluates new advanced technologies for application in meeting or extending the expected service life of ships or ship systems.

     

    Qualifications

    Requires 5 years of related professional experience. Experience in U.S. Navy ship depot level maintenance planning functions OR progressive direct experience related to U.S. Navy surface ship operations or maintenance planning and execution is required. 

    Preferred experience includes roles at a Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Repair, and Conversion command, Regional Maintenance Center, U.S. Navy Central Planning Activity, U.S. Navy Planning Yard Activity, or a Planning for Engineering and Repair Activity. A working level knowledge of the Corrosion Control Information Management System, NMD, and the VSB and M&SWP automated information systems is strongly desired.

    One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
