    Without supervision assists with technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Researches, designs, develops, and tests structures, propulsion units, guidance and control subsystems for ships, navigation, communications, fire control, missiles, and associated systems. Analyzes Naval/Ship systems product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Evaluates new advanced technologies for application in improving design of complex ship systems. Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates testing of complex ship board systems. Performs risk assessment of advanced ship systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies.  


    Requires a Bachelor's Degree (BS) in applied sciences area or Engineering, a related field or eqivalent experience. A minimum of fifteen years related experience. Zero to two years of related ship systems engineering experience (i.e. UNREP Systems) is also required.


    One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
