    Responsibilities

    Engineering Technician II-III (Electrical)

    This technician performs simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Work is checked in progress or on completion. This person performs one or a combination of such typical duties as:

    • Assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting.
    • Performs such tasks as replacing components and wiring circuits.
    • Repairing simple electronic equipment.
    • Taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes.
    • Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
    • Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents.
    • Receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed.
    • Performs recurring work independently.
    • Performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as: constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment.
    • Troubleshoots and correct malfunctions.

    Engineering Technician II-III (Mechanical)

    This technician performs simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Work is checked in progress or on completion. This person performs one or a combination of such typical duties as:

    • Candidate will produce replacement and new parts while repairing metal parts in mechanical equipment to support US NAVY Hover Crafts and associated components at NSWC Panama City, FL, as part of a Depot repair/refurbishment team. 

       

      Responsibilities will include:

      • Interpreting written instructions and specifications;
      • Planning and laying out of work;
      • Using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments;
      • Setting up and operating standard machine tools;
      • Shaping of metal parts to close tolerances; and
      • Making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining during repairs.

       

      Candidate should have knowledge of:

      • Working properties of common metals;
      • Selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment required; and
      • Fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment.

       

      In general, the machinist's work normally requires well-rounded training in machine-shop practice, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

     

     

    Qualifications

    A minimum of  five years related experience is required.

     

    One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
