Responsibilities

As directed by NAVSEA 05Z5, the component power systems engineer shall:

  • Provide review and comments to OHIO Class Replacement Program propulsion plant system, component, and power generation vendor and shipbuilder submittals;
  • Compile and adjudicate all NAVSEA comments, and provide complete technical response in draft memo, transmittal, or letter format to the submittal to the applicable OHIO Class Replacement;
  • Program propulsion plant system, component and power generation design manager;
  • Provide support for OHIO Class Replacement Program propulsion plant system, component and power generation meetings, telecons and VTCs;
  • Record notes, agreements and actions; and
  • Provide draft trip report to the applicable OHIO Class Replacement Program propulsion plant system, component, and power generation system design manager.
  • This effort will involve frequent communication with NAVSEA 05Z5 personnel. Communication with the propulsion plant design agents, the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Directorate, and equipment suppliers is the responsibility of NAVSEA 05Z5 personnel, and contractor personnel shall not communicate independently with the propulsion plant design agents, the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Directorate, and equipment suppliers.

Qualifications

A B.S. in Electrical Engineering is required. At least five years of related experience is required.

 

One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Secret Security Clearance will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
