Responsibilities

The System Integration and Test Engineer’s roles and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and track status of ship integration change packages for combat system upgrades and equipment changes with ship impact assessments.  Analyze space arrangements, Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Running Sheets, Electrical Power, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning, Outline and Installation Drawings for ICDs and foundation impacts; provide the findings and recommendations.
  • Support the physical installation of combat and warfare systems into Navy ships including the review of designs, drawings, technical data/information, and final shipboard testing of the ICS.
  • Participate in the execution of comprehensive combat system and warfare system test, evaluation and certification plans, procedures and schedules verifying and validating warfare system and system of system capabilities, system requirements, performance and operation ability.
  • Participate in system integration, test, evaluation and certification activities with the Government and other organizations including shipyards and alteration installation teams.
  • Conduct readiness for system integration, test, evaluation and certification activities.
  • Compile data and define changes required in testing configurations, testing procedures, testing processes, or new testing requirements.
  • Perform analysis of test results and prepare comprehensive system evaluation reports, risk assessments and tracks test metrics.
  • Evaluate discrepancy reports and recommend integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes affecting systems and system of system capabilities.
  • Implement test and evaluation strategies, plans and methods to assure reliability of warfare systems in conjunction with system specifications and defined system of system capabilities. 
  • Evaluate system of system capabilities, architectures, system design concepts, requirements, risks and opportunities, and processes for integration, test, evaluation and transition impacts. 
  • Perform analysis of documented user requirements and assist in the design of test plans in support of user requirements for Navy warfare systems. Review, evaluate and derive requirements for testability.
  • Participate in review of warfare systems and elements under development to ensure traceability of requirements compliance through verification and validation.

Qualifications

BS Degree in a Technical Field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with five years of relevant experience, MS in a relevant field with six years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with a minimum of ten years relevant experience.

 

One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
